The Texas Mutual Insurance Headquarters building was constructed in 2018 in the vibrant Mueller development.

The building consists of ground-level retail and three floors of office space above and features a large rooftop terrace and attached parking garage. The project is LEED Gold and AEGB 4-Star certified, thanks in part to its high-performance exterior enclosure design.

APC consulted on behalf of Studio8 Architects, the Architect-of-Record, and alongside Harvey Cleary Builders, reviewing the building enclosure design details and working to improve the thermal performance of the exterior enclosure details, including incorporating thermally broken cladding supports that maintain the R-value of the continuous exterior insulation.

We performed multiple site observations to review the installation of curtain wall, terrace waterproofing, and Equitone fiber cement rainscreen panels as well as the related air barrier and flashing components for conformance with the design intent and air- and watertightness standards, and administered water testing of the wall systems, terraces, and glazing to verify performance.

The building serves as an architectural anchor in the transit-oriented Mueller development and successfully promotes walkability and indoor-outdoor interaction throughout the site.
